He is currently an Assistant Professor at Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) in Kazakhstan. Since 2017, he has also served as a senior research associate at the International Center for Public Policy in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, USA.

Dr. Yedgenov’s research focuses on Public and Development Economics, with particular emphasis on state and local public finance, fiscal federalism, taxation, and the progressivity of personal income taxes. His work explores the relationship between these topics and broader areas such as economic development and growth, macroeconomic stability, institutional quality, and income inequality.

He has published in several top-tier Development Economics journals, including World Development, Journal of Economic Geography, and European Journal of Political Economy. His research often investigates the impact of fiscal decentralization on economic growth using cross-country analyses.

Dr. Yedgenov’s notable work includes studying the impact of fiscal decentralization on economic growth by employing geography indicators as instrumental variables to establish causality. His publications have been co-authored with prominent economists such as Dr. Gustavo Canavire-Bacarreza from the World Bank and Dr. Jorge Martinez-Vazquez from Georgia State University.
